I'm excited to jump back into Serials, one of the flagship shows at The Flea theater. Each week, five short plays are told in episodic format and voted on by the audience each night. At the end of the weekend, the top three shows get to write the next episode of their show, while the losing two shows have to come up with a completely new play for the next cycle. Come see me July 19, 20 and 21st at 11pm! Tickets can be bought here!

On Monday, June 25th, I will be performing in two play readings as part of the #metoo plays by Fish in Water Productions. The reading is part of a 3-part series of short play readings that look to examine the movement to bring awareness to the acts of sexual violence and misconduct that happen so often across all professions and gender/sexual identities. The hope is to share stories and continue the discussion on how to move forward and deal with trauma. The series will culminate in full productions of a number of the short plays this fall. More info can be found here.
This May I'll be joining Writopia Lab for the third time to perform in their Worldwide Plays Festival! The festival invites students ages 6-18 to write plays that are then fully produced by professional theatre artists. I'll be performing in The Perfect Writer and Brothers on Wednesday, May 9th at 6pm and 8pm respectively. The shows will be at TheatreLab and will be performed in an immersive style. More information on the festival can be found here! On Tuesday, April 24th, I will be performing in a reading of a new play by Queens College MFA playwright Will Lacker. Catch the Westbound follows two girls in the late 19th century who must journey from their home and abusive past in order to find a new life. They do so by fare-dodging a train that is hopefully going south and to a better life. The reading will take place at 2pm at The Flea.
Since March of 2017, I've been helping to develop The Flea's new children's theatre initiative Cereals. Cereals, presents four new plays geared towards young audiences in serialized format. The first two episodes were presented in the fall and the final two episodes of each show will be performed in April and May. I'm thrilled to be continuing work on Fatima and Her Pigeon by Noelle Ghoussaini and directed by Kate Moore Heaney. The show follows a young Syrian girl named Fatima who must leave her country due to the ongoing war. Along the way she loses her pet pigeon and best friend Jawahar, and must go on a journey to find her and learn about what it means to leave home along the way. More information on Cereals can be found here. I'm super excited to be collaborating with playwright Maurice Decaul as part of a collaboration between Brown University and The Flea Theater. I first worked with Maurice on his play Between the Tigris and Euphrates with Poetic Theater Productions, back in 2015. He is now a Brown MFA candidate in playwriting and is bringing his new show Three Years After the Coup, to be workshopped at the Flea with their resident acting company, The Bats. I'm thrilled to jump back into his work for the week!
I'm thrilled to be performing in the Cleveland Public Theatre world premiere of American Dreams by Leila Buck and directed by Tamilla Woodard. American Dreams invites the audience into the live studio audience of the newest hit gameshow which grants the winning player the ultimate prize: citizenship to the greatest country on earth. This unique show asks the audience to participate in the choosing of their next neighbor. I'm excited to rep my roots of Palestine as I play Palestinian chef and entrepreneur Adil Akram Mansour who is hoping for a shot to win citizenship into the United States. Previews begin February 8th, with the official opening on February 16th. The show runs through March 3rd. Tickets and more info can be found here! I'm excited to jump into my first project of 2018 as I perform in a reading of a new play at NYU Tisch's Goldberg Theater. The play Drowning in Cairo is written by NYU Abu Dhabi dramatic writing student Adam Ashraf El-Sayigh and tells the story of three men growing up in Egypt coming to terms with their sexuality alongside a repressive government. The reading will take place on Monday January 15th at 2pm.
I'm excited to join Noor Theatre again for their Highlight Reading Series. On Tuesday December 12th, I'll be reading stage directions for Sevan K. Greene's new play You, the Fire, and Me directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar. Over the next two weekends I'll be performing in The Flea Theatre's staple show Serials. #serials@theflea brings 5 episodic plays together for a weekend of performances. The audience votes on their favorites and the top 3 shows at the end of the weekend get to return for the next installment of their story. Come check out the last two cycles of 2017! |
