fajjr+ali is very excited to be working with Poetic Theater Productions once again at Love Redefined: Renew. The annual event asks poets, actors, musicians and artists of all kinds to take a piece of work about love, and redefine it, respond to it or remix it. This years event is the 10th anniversary and artists will be redefining work from previous pieces that were created for the event in years past. Check out more about the event here!

I'm excited to be working with Noor Theatre again on their works-in-progress presentations of their newest commissions. I will be performing in two of the pieces: a new piece by Arian Moayed and a new musical by Mike Mosallam, Avi Amon, and Danny Bryck. The readings will take place at The Lark on Friday January 17th at 7pm. Learn more about Noor Theatre's work here! I'm excited to jump back into work with Target Margin Theater in their exploration of tales from the One Thousand and One Nights. In October we had the chance to develop work based on the story of "Julnar of the Sea." Next we will be tackling "The Story of the Porter and the Three Sisters." All of this work is a continuation of TMT's seasons long exploration of The Nights and will culminate in 2021 in a massive retelling event. Stay tuned! I'm excited to be working with fellow Arab-American artist Chloé Hayat on a reading of her play His Majesty, Herself. The play is about the rise of the female Pharaoh Hatshepsut and her years in power. More info on the reading can be found here.
I'm beyond excited to have signed with Gregg Baker Management. Representation has been something I've wanted for a long time in order to take my career to the next level, and I'm honored to join this team to continue building on the work and crafting my career. I'm thrilled to be working with Target Margin Theatre this fall, as they continue their exploration of The One Thousand and One Nights. The past few seasons, they have explored various stories within The Nights and presented new work inspired from these stories, as they put it, "exploring justice, gender, and orientalism, all through the powerful lens of storytelling." I jumped into a workshop in September exploring one of the tales and will be continuing on more work throughout October. I'm so excited to be performing with my band fajjr+ali at Sofar Sounds in Boston. Sofar brings audiences together for intimate secret shows in unexpected locations. We have been a fan of Sofar for a while and are thrilled to now be one of their artists. Our show will take place on Thursday, September 26th in Somerville Massachusetts. Learn more about Sofar here! I'm thrilled to be working on 10,000 Balconies, my second ever regional show at TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I had the pleasure of taking part in one of the original workshops back in 2017 and am joining them again for this workshop production. The show is loosely inspired by Romeo & Juliet and follows the love story of two young Syrians as the war in Syria begins and what happens to them and other residents of Damascus. We will be performing August 30th – September 1st. More information on the show and on TheatreSquared can be found here. I'm happy to be working with Simon and Schuster publishing once again on a new audiobook called Making a Play by Abbi Glines. The book follows two high school students who must overcome their perceptions of each other and the prejudices others in their town have as they fall in love during their senior year of high school. More on the book and an audio sample can be found here! I'm super excited to be joining playwright Leila Buck and director Tamilla Woodard once more for a performance of a Mix and Match, a new immersive play that is being developed with En Garde Arts. The play looks at two families, one from a Lebanese background and one from an Irish-American background coming together through marriage, and how each side navigates the differences in culture and religion. The workshop performance will be presented on May 10th at The Gathering, a culmination of the CrossCurrents Festival put on by The Laboratory for Global Performance and Politics at Georgetown University. More information on the festival and The Gathering can be found at www.crosscurrentsfestival.org.
