fajjr+ali wil be performing the 99 names of Allah at Alvernia University on Friday, April 26th as a part of their Interfaith Prayer Service and Fellowship. The event is a celebration of the interfaith dialogue that has played a big part in building the community at Alvernia and we are honored to be included. More information can be found here.

On April 18th, I will be performing in a reading of Damascus/Aleppo by Abdullah AlKafri, a Syrian playwright based in Lebanon. The play follows a Syrian therapist who suspects his son is gay and subsequently turns him out of the house. The event is part of the NYU Abu Dhabi Institute's event Arab Voices which will feature two other works by Arab playwrights. The book Batting Order tells the story of young Matt Baker and his experience on and off the baseball field as he struggles with his stutter and building new friendships while learning that everyone has their own hardships to deal with, no matter how well they seem on the outside. More info on the book and an audio sample can be found here! On March 16th, fajjr+ali will be teaming up with Poetic Theater Productions once again to perform at their Poetic Lyricism event. The event is a collaboration with Music Theatre Factor and will feauture original work created during the Songsmith Lab, a collaboration between Poetic Theater and MTF, alongside a number of featured performers. fajjr+ali is very excited to be performing at the next Mipsterz event Colonized Dreams on March 9th at The Knockdown Center in Queens. The event is billed as house-party meets TED-talk, celebrating the diversity of the Muslim diaspora and speaking to the challenges of pursuing a creative path. I'm excited to be performing in Serials at The Flea once again for their 50th cycle! Each weekend 5 plays compete against each other in a late night competition. At the end of the weekend, the top 3 shows based on audience votes will get to write the next episode. I will be performing in the first weekend of shows. In addition, in order to celebrate the 50th cycle of Serials, there will be live music every night. The first night, February 28th, will feature live pre-show music by fajjr+ali! I'm excited to return to Allentown Art Museum for their Third Thursday series. Every third Thursday of the month, the museum opens its doors after hours for special programming and this month fajjr+ali will be a featured performer for the event. On February 9th, fajjr+ali will be performing at Bryn Mawr College for the South Asian Students' Culture Show. The event will feature live music and dancing including a few sets by fajjr+ali!
I'm thrilled to be teaming up with Leila Buck and Tamilla Woodard once again on a new immersive piece titled Engagement Party. This new piece is being produced by Anne Hamburger of En Garde Arts. We will be workshopping the show in January and then again in April and May with a performance at the Georgetown Lab for Performance and Politics' Crosscurrents Festival in Washington D.C. in May!
